Giovanni Cenci, PI.
Giovanni Cenci is currently an Associate Professor of Genetics at Sapienza University's Department of Biology and Biotechnology "C. Darwin" in Rome (IT). He has been also appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor in Temple University's College of Science and Technology, Department of Biology (Philadelphia, PA). He has received his PhD in Genetics and Evolutionary Biology in 1997. Giovanni Cenci has worked for many years in M. Gatti laboratory (Rome) and for almost 3 years in M. Goldberg lab (Cornell University, NY). He is in love with rugby, likes Dire Straits and is fascinated by fruit fly genetics.

Patrizia Morciano, Senior Post Doc.
Patrizia Morciano graduated from University of Salento and received the PhD from University of L'Aquila. She has worked for two years in Rong Lab (LMCB, NCI, NIH, Bethesda, MD, USA) on Drosophila telomere maintenance. She is currently a senior Post Doc in Cenci Lab and focuses on the study of a cross-talk between mitochondrial solute transport and genome stability using Drosophila as model organisms. Patrizia has an exceptional skill for gardening and always enjoyes her green thumb!

Francesca Cipressa, Post Doc.
Francesca has received her PhD in 2013 from University of L'Aquila. She has spent 6 months in Cooper Lab (London Cancer Research, UK). She is currently working on evolutionary conserved roles of centromeric proteins in telomere protection. She is proud of the cover of the October-November-December Fly journal (Vol 7, issue 4), which depicts one of her beautiful images of polytene chromosome immunostainings! She enjoyes faboulus evenings dancing Tango!

Giuseppe Bosso (Simone), PhD student
Giuseppe (but everybody calls him Simone) graduated from University of L'Aquila (IT). He is a third year PhD student at SAPIENZA University of Rome. He is interested on understanding the role of ubiquitination at Drosophila chromosome ends and in DNA damage. He fell in love with telomeres (regardeless the organism) every since he learned reading scientific papers! He plays several instruments and writes music. Everybody in the building is proud of Simone's fruit fly song!

Diana Manzi, PhD student
Diana has joined the lab about two years ago. She is working on a thesis project aimed at identifying the role of inorganic phospate transport in genome stability, under the supervision of Patrizia Morciano (and Giovanni Cenci, of course!). She is a first year PhD student at SAPIENZA University, adores the artist Boris Vian and dreams about reaching all confines of the world with her Bianchi bike!
